“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his spirit in your inner being so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you being rooted and established in love may have power together with all the Lord’s holy people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.” (Ephesians 3:16-18)
One of the mysteries of the Christian faith is the reality that Christ dwells in the heart of every believer in a personal way. Christ takes up residence in the life of the every believer, granting special graces. This happens only by faith. The unbelieving or rebellious heart will not experience and receive this wonderful grace. When Christ takes up residence in the heart of a person who professes faith in Him, a wonderful transformation begins to occur. The changes in the person’s life may not be instant but the qualities of Christ-likeness will be gradually seen. The person will grow in faith and as he grows the indwelling Christ becomes more visible and real in his life. The love of Chris will radiate in the heart of that person. The person indwelled by Christ is being rooted and grounded in love. God’s love like seed, sinks deeper roots and here is no other description which cold fathom how wide, how long, how high, and how deep, Christ’s love is.
