FOOLISH AND HARMFUL DESIRES
It is human nature in his
unregenerate state to lust after the things of this world. Greed and
selfishness is our natural bent. We can lose sight of spiritual priorities. As God’s
people our goal in life is not to accumulate things, but to seek first God’s
kingdom and his righteousness. The Bible warns against craving or longing to
have more riches or money which is most likely to explain one’s stinginess or
selfishness. Those who long to be rich are likely to fall into temptation and
are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires which plunge them to ruin and destruction.
